James 1917-on V-Twin Front #16-1

The James Cycle Company produced the 650cc side-valve V-Twin purposefully for sidecar use and was made in large numbers for the Russian Military. The front mudguard is of a large Panama Hat style with full length valances roll swaged into the rolled edges of the guard. The radius suits a 28x3 tyre and the finished width of the guard is 110mm reduced to 95mm at the forks. It has a raised rolled nose following the lines of the valance and a cut shaped tail end for easy mud clearance. The riveted brackets suit rod stays and notably the front bracket protrudes through the valance while the tail end bracket sits inside the valance.
