Indian Standard 1923 Rear #55-5
/ Michael RockIndian Standard Rear Fender or mudguard by Vintage Steel
These fenders suit the 1922-24 Indian Standard with leaf sprung rear which replaced the PowerPlus. There are two versions of rear fender for Standards. This is the 4 Stay version which we believe was for the earliest models (late 1922 early 1923). 3 Stay versions are also available. The stays (braces for our US Clients) have specific bends in them to go inside the spring pack and outside the frame and chainguard. The rear stay has deliberate clearance in the centre inside the fender for your rear stand clip to be inserted. At the nose end is a large riveted reinforcing plate which is also shaped to fit inside the swingarm mounting pressing the same as earlier Powerplus models. Much work has also gone into tooling up for the manufacture of hinges for these fenders. Each half of this hinge is laser-cut, bent, rolled, pressed and shaped in one piece (not welded) the same as the originals. It is held in place by ten rivets, four of which also hold the third stay. The hinged joint also has small step down tangs on the sides at the overlap.
Matching front fender is also available.
