BSA 1920's Front #19-1
/ Vintage Steel/ Michael RockThere are many different versions of the BSA front mudguards from the 1920's. This example is made to a customers specifications using a known valance and skirt template set. The finished width and depth of the mudguard are 113mm x 42mm, taken from a similar 1920's BSA front guard which appears in some of the photo's. Interesting to note is the riveting pattern of the original, the mushroomed rivet heads are on the inside of the guard with washers and peened ends on the outside.
A number of variations have been found in these BSA guards with fork gaps from 100mm to 115mm. Most are available either as a narrow guard or a wide guard with fork relief pressings.
