Douglas 1919-23 Rear #13-3
/ Michael RockDouglas Rear Mudguard / Fender by Vintage Steel
There is evidence today of many different types of mudguards on the 1914-23 Douglas motorcycles most likely due to supply issues at the start of WW1. Here we have copied samples of quite a few. This is one of the wide series from 1919-1923, the C section finished depth of 1+1/2” width is 4+1/4" plus the belt rim cover. . We have numbered the rear guards as #13DOURF-1 (no belt cover extension), #13DOURF-2 (simple belt cover extension) & #13DOURF-3 (complex belt cover extension and different RHS Valance)
This rear guard has asymmetric full length valances with safety edges and the drive side (RHS) has a rolled edge belt rim cover soldered to the bottom edge of the valance. This guard is almost the same as the #13DOURF-1 and -2 but the RHS valance panel continues past the belt cover all the way to the nose end of the guard. There are pressings in the side of the guard blade and valance for belt clearance. The belt cover extension goes all the way to the engine pulley and has soldered and welded panels attached.
